Hiring an editor

Why hire an editor?

Editors are wordsmiths. We turn ordinary documents into models of clarity and style.

We work on material that is intended for all kinds of print media, or for the Web, or for television or radio.

Your document must compete with all the other information ‘out there’. An editor can help make your message worth the effort of finding and reading it. You have an audience (or you're going to find one); an editor makes those people want to read or hear what you have to tell them, and helps them to understand it.

Editors work on reports, books, policy statements, curriculum materials, Web pages, press releases, tender documents and proposals, newsletters, conference proceedings, annual reports, exhibition interpretation, online magazines, training courses…you name it, we've crafted it. We can even prepare templates to help you streamline things next time.

Some editors are also experienced in training people to write more clearly and effectively.

Hiring an editor

Editors can work for an hourly rate or a negotiated fixed fee. Be clear what you want them to do for you and document it.

Our brochure, Why do you need an editor?, may help you to clarify what an editor can do for you before you contact one of our freelance editors through the Freelance register.
