Categories of membership
Membership is renewed each year on 1 July. Members who join after December 31 may pay two-thirds of the full year's rates. There are three categories of membership:
- Associate membership costs $50 per year and is open to anyone interested in publishing
- Full membership, at $70, is open to anyone with qualifications in editing and publishing recognised by the Society and one year’s full-time experience or equivalent in industry, or two years’ full-time experience or equivalent in industry if you do not have a relevant editing and publishing qualification. Those applying for Full membership need to provide details of two referees who are familiar with your work in the editing profession. Full membership includes an entry in the Society's online Freelance Register for those who would like one.
- Corporate membership is available for $200 and enables you to send up to four employees from your organisation to each Society event and receive the member discount.
Associate and full members may attend Society activities at the discounted members' price, where applicable. Members living more than 80 km from the Hobart GPO receive a further 20% discount for professional development activities.
If you can't decide which category suits you, read the membership application form [MS Word, 94kB].
