Conferences cannot happen without the support of sponsors, and we were very fortunate to have an early commitment of support – as major sponsor – from the international publisher John Wiley. This made it possible for us to confidently proceed with the planning of what turned out to be a truly outstanding event.
Similarly, Arts Tasmania's early support made possible the recruitment of our guest speaker from the United States, Yvonne Rolzhausen.
University of Tasmania support from three areas – the Faculty of Business, the School of English, Journalism and European Languages, and the Cultural Activities Committee – assisted with the expenses of our opening speaker, Professor Peter Doherty, keynote speakers Saul Eslake and Ramona Koval, and the Open Forum on English Usage.
Extraordinary assistance, both financially and in-kind, was provided throughout the whole of the event's organisation by ACYS Publishing and Word Wise.
